Ok, so the Beer Vikings were in Milan this week. The plan was not to rape and pillage but only do some work. Before we headed down to the sunny Med we picked up Michael Jackson’s (NOT the singer) great DK guide to Beer. What did we find ? On page 204 it says:

Lambrate – The first (and still the best) brewpub in Milan…

In the end we did pillage a few beers at Lambrate and we have to say this brewpub rocks! If you go, be sure to try the Porpora a cross between an IPA and a pale ale. Tasty! It is describe as a ‘red ale’ -

A special red beer, characterized by a distinct caramel flavour, a shy beer which waits to be discovered.
ABV: 5,8% Vol.
Degrees Plato: 14
Color: ruby red
Yeast: Saccaromyces cereviasiae (top fermentation)

Great atmosphere here. Friendly bar staff (or was he the owner) – very knowledgeable. A mixed crowd of men and women, a bit bohemian, biker and grunge. Mostly locals with lots of tattoos. Only 15 mins from central Milan by taxi… And the bounder made sure we found our boat, I mean taxi home.
