Attending sporting events and drinking beer is one of the things that make it all worthwhile.  Probably would be more exciting if stadiums actually served good beer.

Different from the UK, is that in North America you can even get beer delivered to your seat.

Fans who have seen the Toronto Blue Jays play at home have not just had this pleasure but also have been entertained by the antics of Wayne McMahon, who’s got a cult following as the Ice Cold Beer Guy (there’s even a whole bunch of YouTube videos.)

As you can see below, he’s got quite a pitch.

Now, what really sucks is that he got caught out by the crazy liberal fascist laws of Canada recently.  The drinking age is 19, he’s supposed to check ID of anyone looking under 30, he served a mystery shopper from his employer he was only 22 (though looked over 30).  And so his company fired him.

But in the age of Web2.0 and social networks and media, the punters have got together and have formed a Facebook group that’s clamouring to get him his job back.  That’s so awesome and The Tank signed up today…if you’re not on Facebook, you can still go to a more formal petition or leave a comment for ARAMACK.

From reading about the great work Rob is doing at O’Hanlon Brewing Company including the resurrection of hte Thomas Hardy Ale, he’s gone on the Beer Viking wish list for brewers to meet and share a pint with to talk about hops, malt and the whatever else comes to mind.

Apparently, 16th March 1621, Samoset walks up to the pilgrims and in English asks for some beer!

There’s different accounts, but apparently they eventually sorted Samoset out and a couple of days later he returned with Squanto.

It ends up the Squanto teaches the Pilgrims how to live from the land properly and things took off from there.

So as I said, it was the beer!!!
